ECI Evaluation

Today the girls had an evaluation with Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) to determine if they have a delay in their speech. Up until about a month ago, the girls only said about 5-10 words, so we were referred to ECI with the idea that it would be better to get help sooner rather than later. In between being referred to ECI and this past week, the girls have had a little language boom, so the nice ladies from ECI probably thought we were crazy for having them evaluated. We weren't worried about any other areas of their development, but since ECI was here they went ahead and tested all areas. They used a test called the DAYC (Developmental Assessment of Young Children) that has 5 main areas. Here are their results:

Adaptive (self help skills) - 27 months
Cognitive (attention, memory, etc) - 29 months
Physical Development (fine and gross motor skills) - 26 months
Communication (verbal and non-verbal, expressive and receptive language) - 24 months
Social-Emotional Development (social interaction) - 34 months

The girls are 25 months old today, so they are ahead in every area except Language. Since they are only a month behind in Language development they don't qualify for any intervention. I couldn't believe that their social interaction result was at almost a 3-year old level...they actually got points because they fighting over toys. I guess being a twin has its perks.

Dizzy

Camryn loves the bouncing, spinning zebra. She tried out the spinning feature and I happened to catch it on camera.

Video Fun

So I uploaded several videos to YouTube because it just takes WAY too long to upload them directly to my blog. For your viewing pleasure...I give you...my little twincesses. Enjoy.

At the beginning of this one Kristin is making her own song (first I'm coaxing her to start singing again). She loves hum and make up her own songs. Then they hear a car outside - so we start talking about Daddy and where he might be.

I didn't even think the girls would still fit on the car like this, but they made it work somehow. Camryn is in front and Kristin is tormenting her from the back seat. These videos will be so funny for them to look back on when they start driving real cars. "See look - even before we were 2 years old you were already harassing me while I was driving"

My sweet motorcycle girls. Just hanging around the kitchen on the new rides.

New Treat

Sour Patch Kids! Kristin (on the left) pops these sour things like they are nothing. Camryn prefers to lick all the sour powder off (check our her crazy tongue), then eat the leftover gummy "kid" in several bites. My, my, my...some things are so different. They also show off their mad signing skills - they sign "more" several times. You can even see toddler twins sharing! Camryn doesn't want to share at first, but she eventually gives in.

The Giant Carrot

We bought the girls this giant carrot slide..and we knew that they loved being outside before, but holy cow, they love being outside even more now. After a little trial and error, they have now figured out two great ways to go down the slide. Feet first and head first.

In this video, you can hear the ice cream truck in the background, so of course dancing along to the music is a must.
