Yet Another Zoo Trip

We have been going to the zoo every Monday during June because it is member appreciation month. They open an hour early for members, so we have been trying to beat the Texas heat and also get some of the goodies/special things that the zoo has to offer. This week they had a penguin out for everyone to see and we were able to get pretty close (about 3 feet away). Walt got a cute video of the girls flapping their arms like a bird (while I was trying to explain to the girls that the penguins flap their wings to swim, not fly). I'm sure they understood perfectly. I love that they say "bye" to everything right now. "Bye penguin"

The giant male elephant was out roaming around (usually he is in the corner where there is shade)

Bye female elephants

The sun bear was out getting a drink from his large pool (instead of sleeping on top of his tree house)

The elusive ground squirrel

All in all, a great trip to the zoo. It seems like each time we go there are different animals that are active and it reminds me that getting the zoo passes was a GREAT idea.
